Medtronic Spent $1.7 Million on Lobbying

March 5th, 2008 · No Comments

Medtronic Inc., the makers of the faulty Sprint Fidelis leads, spent $1.7 million lobbying members of Congress in 2007. They spent this money in an effort to influence legislation pertaining to patents and medical device sales.

In the second half of 2007, Medtronic spent $940,000 lobbying the House of Representatives. This money was related to legislation related to farming bills. The specific bills would allow medical device sales representatives the ability to train with live animals.

The company spent $760,000 during the first half of the year lobbying both the House and the Senate on patent reform bills.

According to a law passed in 1995, lobbyists are required to report their activities that could affect both the legislative and executive branches.

If you have been implanted with the recalled Sprint Fidelis leads and have experienced unnecessary, painful shocks due to your leads,  contact the Medtronic lawsuit attorneys of Williams Kherkher at 1-866-950-9000 to discuss your case and to determine your legal options.
