The Minnesota defibrillator maufacturer, Medtronics, faces more lawsuits for defects found in their product. Stephan Squellati has suffered with a heart condition for many years and recieved an implanted pacemaker in order to treat his condition. Squellati enjoyed the benefits of the Medtronics product for some time before a defective battery within the device began to cause him personal injuries and financial problems.
The lawsuit states that Medtronics is responsible for the defective design and manufacturing of the product, as well as inadequate warings, breach of implied warranty, consumer fraud, and negligent design and manufacturing. The lawsuit goes on to report that the product’s batteries were prone to rapid depletion and failed to provide the correct release of electrical shock to maintain a regular heart ryhthm when needed.
The lawsuit does not indicate the type of injuries that Squellati suffered from due to the defective product, however, it does indicate that he had to be hospitalized for his injuries on various occassions.
