Two more men have filed lawsuits against the Minnesota based Medtronics manufacturing company. Randie Green and Anton Muller of Illinois claim that their surgically implanted defibrillators containted defective batteries. The two men had their defibrillators removed shortly after reading about the faulty product in several news reports.
Currently, around 87,000 Medtronic defibrillators and pacemakers are used by patients worldwide. This number may see a slight decrease as many more patients become aware of the dangerous defects of the device. Green and Muller have filed the suit due to the suffering that they experienced from the Medtronics product. Both claim that the defibrillator’s batteries would lose power suddenly, failing to provide them with the appropriate electrical shock needed to maintain a steady heart rhythm.
The suit claims that Medtronic is liable for the negligent design and manufacturing of their product, as well as the failure ot warn patients of the possible complications of using their product. The suit also claims that Medtronics worked to conceal and omit negative information concerning their defibrillators and pacemakers.
