Reduced Winnings for Medtronic

September 2nd, 2008 · No Comments

Medtronic’s most recent litigation involvement has taken a
negative turn.  After winning a $250
million ruling over a patent infringement case, the judge reduced the award to
$19 million.  The judge was very angry
with the Medtronic team when he found out that the person responsible for the
patenting withheld pertinent information about previous inventions that had
been developed by Medtronic.

The man responsible for patent submissions experienced a
severe seizure in 1999 and blames his neglect of frequent memory lapses that
have taken place from time to time.
Medtronic does plan to appeal the court decision and also chose not to
comment on the matter.
